Mirjana Negovanovic was born on September 29, 1982 in the city of Belgrade, Serbia. At the age of six, Mirjana and her family moved to the United States, where they still reside in Chicago. Mirjana’s heritage is based on the legendary Negovanovic family, in which music has flowed in their vein for more than 80 years. Her grandfather and his brother were popular accordionists in the region of Šumadija. In the year of 1966, Mirjana’s father, Novica, won first place accordion at the Festival of Soko Banja. Afterwards, he was popularized as a singer, composer, arranger, and producer.
At an early age, Mirjana developed an interest in music and is blessed with incredible tone knowledge. There is one detail that would prove that Mirjana was born for music. At the young age of four, she attended church with her parents and walked off. After a few minutes, she was noticed playing the guitar next to the priest preaching. Of course this young musician thought she was performing for her admirers. At that moment, the music in her vein began to pump, and her genes led her to the stage to perform. At the age of nine, Mirjana insisted on singing lessons and learning a musical instrument. Her teenage years were occupied with voice lessons by a professional opera singer. In her early twenties, Mirjana begins to perform, with her brother Dragan, throughout the United States.
After a long period of preparation, Mirjana released her first CD in the fall of 2007. Her CD was recorded in the studio Muzicka Kuca Negovanovic (MKN), with the support of her brother, Dragan, as well as many of her friends and colleagues. They include Bora Dugic, Žarko Solakovic, Tomislav Colovic (Mali Mrav), Slavica Momakovic, Žika Jaksic (Grand Productions), Euro Band, Milovan Gogic, Lane and many others.
With the song titled “Devojacki San”, Mirjana was awarded First Place for Interpretation at the “Moravski Biseri” festival held on November 5th, 2007 in Cuprija. With this success, Mirjana began her professional singing career. Bora Dugic created the composition and the lyrics, and her brother, Dragan Negovanovic, created the arrangement. In addition, on March 4th, 2008 Mirjana wins an Oscar in Banja Luka.
Mirjana’s career began successfully and beyond expectations, considering her competition in Serbia and the world. We hope with Mirjana’s qualities that she will further succeed and go beyond her competition. What will happen, we will know shortly.
